Free WiFi on planes is spreading fast. According to Simple Flying, five well-known airlines now include it for premium economy passengers in some form.
The rules differ for each carrier. Here is a quick look.

|---|---|---|
| Cathay Pacific | Free messaging | Membership number on your ticket |
| Singapore Airlines | Free WiFi access | Free KrisFlyer account |
| Emirates | Free chat, more for top tiers | Skywards account |

Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines
Cathay Pacific offers free messaging to premium economy flyers and above. Your membership number must be on your booking. Short video streaming costs extra, and internet calls are not allowed.
Singapore Airlines gives business and first class unlimited WiFi. Economy and premium economy flyers can get free access through KrisFlyer or the Priority Passenger Service (PPS) Club.
KrisFlyer is free to join. The service starts once the plane passes 10,000 feet, about 15 minutes after takeoff. Internet calls and streaming are not supported.
Emirates and Qatar Airways
Emirates offers free WiFi to Skywards members, and joining costs nothing. Blue, Silver and Gold members get free chat.
Platinum members get full free WiFi for the whole flight. Paid upgrades start at $9.99. Emirates is adding Starlink to its fleet and plans to fit 232 aircraft.
Qatar Airways gives everyone 45 free minutes on planes with Starlink. Privilege Club members can stay online for the whole flight. You can read the airline’s own connectivity details before you fly.

Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic offers free WiFi to Flying Club members who sign up before departure. On planes with Starlink, the free service can cover everything from messaging to streaming.
So far, only its Airbus A350 jets have Starlink on every plane. The airline plans to finish its whole fleet in 2027.
Other jets still charge for WiFi, and prices depend on how long you stay online. Some older planes do not support streaming at all, so check your aircraft type when you book.
Tips Before You Fly
Free WiFi only helps if you set it up first. Join the airline’s loyalty program before your trip, then add your number to your booking.
Download shows and maps before you board, since free plans may block streaming. Charge your devices fully too.
Public networks carry some risk. The Federal Trade Commission explains how to stay safe on public WiFi. Avoid banking or shopping on any network you do not trust.
