World of Warcraft Forever is now live. Blizzard launched its fresh take on classic World of Warcraft (WoW) worldwide on November 4, 2026, at 3 p.m. Pacific.

Key Points

  • WoW Forever adds over 1,000 quests, nine dungeons and two max-level raids.
  • It comes with a WoW subscription or game time, with no extra purchase required.
  • A new race called the Skyborne can join either the Horde or the Alliance.

What Is WoW Forever?

WoW Forever is a new, permanent version of the game set in a reimagined original world of Azeroth. Blizzard calls it a “new permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW.”

Fans have long called this idea “Classic Plus.” It keeps the feel of the 2004 game but adds new content.

The story takes place after the Warcraft III Reforged story Forsaken Kingdom and before the Molten Core raid. You can read the full details on the official World of Warcraft site.

Good to know. World of Warcraft first launched in November 2004. It remains one of the most popular online games ever made.

What Is New in WoW Forever?

The level cap stays at 60. But there is a lot of new content to explore, Warcraft Tavern reported.

  • Over 1,000 new quests
  • Nine new dungeons
  • Two new max-level raids
  • New zones including the Riverlands and Mount Hyjal
  • Better lighting, fog, water and shadows

There are also new class options. Forsaken players can now be Paladins, and Dwarves can be Shamans.

1,000+New quests added in World of Warcraft Forever, per Warcraft Tavern.

Meet the Skyborne Race

The Skyborne are high elf exiles with a brand new story. Unlike most races, they can join either the Horde or the Alliance.

They start their journey on Zephras Isle. Blizzard sells the Skyborne as part of optional upgrade packs.

A new Legacy System also gives rewards across your whole account. Campfires make it easier to meet and group with other players.

How Did Launch Day Go?

The beta in September drew huge crowds. Players faced queues lasting hours, GosuGamers reported.

Launch day went more smoothly. German site Mein-MMO reported short queues of about five minutes for many players in Europe.

Some players still saw login errors or trouble buying game time in the first few hours after launch. Most of those issues cleared up by the next morning.

What to Do to Start Playing

StepWhat to do
1Get an active WoW subscription or game time
2Open the Battle.net app
3Choose World of Warcraft Forever from the version menu
4Create a character and pick your ruleset

If you see errors, try restarting the Battle.net app. That fixed many early problems, according to Mein-MMO.

Is WoW Forever Worth Playing?

If you loved the original game, WoW Forever offers something rare. It feels familiar but gives you new places to explore and new stories to follow.

Returning players can enjoy old zones with fresh quests. New players get a slower, more social style of play than in modern WoW.

The game rewards teamwork. Dungeons and raids are hard to finish alone, so joining a guild early can help a lot.

Blizzard has promised more updates after launch across all levels. That means the world should keep growing in the months ahead.

Try this today. Turn on two-step login for your Battle.net account. It keeps your characters safe from hackers during busy launch weeks.
